St. Andrew’s Society finds new home in Troy
After almost 20 years without a formal home, the St. Andrew’s
Society of Detroit will take up permanent residence in Troy. The Scottish culture and benevolence group purchased the former
Mountain Jack’s restaurant on Rochester Road at Stephenson Hwy.The 8,700-square-foot facility, which will be named the
Kilgour Scottish Center, will house a banquet hall, library, meeting room, of fices and a classroom. It will also be a place for their pipe bands to practice,
hold meetings, genealogy research, and Scottish dancing classes and recitals. The building was purchased as a gift left by
the estate of Helen Kilgour in memory of her late husband, Thomas, a longtime member of the St. Andrew’s Society.
